Improvement Method of Tool Life Using Simulation

Purpose

To improve hard metal die lifetime

Method

1. Deformation resistance data of the work material is obtained by a compression test and input into FEM.

2.Calculate the stress values applied to the hard metal by changing the conditions of the shrink ring and performing the analysis.

3.Stress values are plotted on a fatigue limit diagram to predict life.

Result

The conditions for improving the tooling life could be studied in the simulation.
The life has been improved.
